Recognizing AI as a transformative force, the strategy aims to harness its potential to achieve the aspirations of Agenda 2063, igniting new industries, fueling innovation, and creating high-value jobs while preserving African culture and integration.

The Continental AI Strategy aligns with the AU's inclusive development aspirations and core values, prioritizing the development and adaptation of AI systems to Africa's context. Guided by principles of ethics, inclusion, diversity, human rights, human dignity, people's well-being, peace, and prosperity, the strategy focuses on harnessing AI's benefits, building AI capabilities, minimizing risks, stimulating investment, and fostering cooperation.

This approach sets out a common vision for the continent and identifies key policy interventions to enable Africa to harness AI's potential while addressing associated challenges.

With the Continental AI Strategy, Africa is laying the necessary foundations to become an integral participant in the AI revolution, optimizing benefits and unlocking vast potential to empower citizens. Africa's young and tech-savvy population is well-positioned to embrace innovative technologies and leverage them for economic and social transformation.

The AU Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, H.E.
