The African
Union (AU) has launched the AU Innovation Lab, the first continental policy
lab, to fuel the success of the 1m Next Level Initiative and advance Agenda
2063 through innovation and new approaches.
The
launch event featured remarks from the Director of the Women, Gender, and Youth
Directorate, Prudence Ngwenya who stressed the importance of testing new
approaches and incubating great ideas for greater impact and scalability.
In a
remark the Head of Data Governance at GIZ African Union, Wander Johannes, commended
the AU for driving efforts to bring the Innovation Lab to fruition,
highlighting its alignment with GIZ's DataCipation project and exemplifying
shared value collaborations.
Mr.
Michael Münch, Counsellor for Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in
Ethiopia, congratulated the AU on the launch, emphasizing that it serves as a
testament to the collective vision of fostering innovation, creativity, and
collaboration across Africa.
The
successful launch was made possible through the support of GIZ African Union.
