Executive
Director for Africa at Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State
University, Ambassador Philip Thigo has joined fellow team leads from various
thematic groups within the ICT Sector Working Group to brief Dr. Margaret
Ndung'u, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of ICT and the Digital Economy, on the
ongoing Policy and Legislative Reforms in the ICT sector.
The
briefing focused on key areas of progress, including Data Governance and
Emerging Technologies, where a consensus was reached on adopting soft
regulations and establishing guardrails to support a risk-based approach to
governing and harnessing the potential of AI.
Ambassador
Thigo in his remark expressed pride in the progress made and emphasized the
importance of embracing innovation with confidence rather than fear. He also
acknowledged the candid leadership of Prof. Waema throughout the process.
The
report from the briefing will be made public by the end of the month, and
Ambassador Thigo has committed to its implementation.
