Digital Skills Campus Academy, UNDP West and Central Africa, and Concordia
University together have signed a groundbreaking partnership agreement at
Concordia University to train 25,000 young people in cybersecurity across West
and Central Africa.
Building on the
success of a pilot program that reached 24 countries, this initiative seeks to
address the critical shortage of cybersecurity skills in Africa, where
cyberattacks are costing billions of dollars annually. By providing
certification and job readiness, this partnership will empower young Africans
to secure decent employment in this vital sector.
The partnership
brings together governments, the private sector, and academia to bridge the
skills gap and protect Africa's critical infrastructure. With the digital
landscape evolving rapidly, this collaboration is crucial for shaping a secure
and prosperous digital future for the continent.
Through this
initiative, 25,000 young people will gain the expertise needed to combat cyber
threats and drive economic growth. As the demand for cybersecurity
professionals continues to rise, this partnership is poised to make a
significant impact on Africa's digital transformation.
