The Director-General
and CEO of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr
Matthew Adepoju has announced Nigeria's commitment to strengthening its space
sector capabilities through collaborations with international partners like
Axiom Space. This move aims to position Nigeria as a global leader in space
exploration.
At a recent UN
General Assembly side meeting, Dr. Adepoju and Minister Chief Uche Nnaji met
with Axiom Space representatives to discuss the transformative potential of
space technologies. The benefits of these technologies are vast, spanning
healthcare, agriculture, education, and weather forecasting.
Established in
1999, NASRDA has been driving Nigeria's space program forward. With a focus on
harnessing space capabilities for national development, the agency aims to
utilize space technology for various sectors.
Nigeria's space
sector is poised for significant growth, with plans to launch additional
satellites and develop indigenous satellites. The establishment of a national
spaceport is also in the works.
Under Dr.
Adepoju's leadership, NASRDA is driving progress and building a brighter future
for Nigeria and beyond. With international partnerships and local expertise,
Nigeria is set to make its mark in the global space community, leveraging space
technology to improve the lives of its citizens and contribute to global
