Addis Ababa
City Administration has signed a strategic partnership agreement with several
key institutions including the Information Network Security Administration,
Artificial Intelligence Institute, Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute,
and the Addis Ababa Information and Technology Development Bureau.
These entities
will collaborate with the National ID Program (National ID Ethiopia) and the
Addis Ababa Civil Registration and Residency Service to enhance fiscal-based
services, streamline registration processes, and strengthen connectivity, all
of which support the goals of Digital Ethiopia 2025.
The
collaborative effort aims to create a unified approach to digital
transformation within Addis Ababa, utilizing technology to improve public
services, boost operational efficiency, and lay the groundwork for a more
connected society. By focusing on fiscal-based services and a consolidated
registration campaign, the partnership is expected to simplify administrative
processes for residents, while ensuring secure and efficient management of
identification and residency data. This initiative also aligns with Ethiopia’s
broader national agenda of achieving digital inclusion and creating a robust
digital economy by 2025.
At the heart of
the partnership is a commitment to system prosperity, which seeks to establish
a strong foundation for digital solutions and enhance the city's technological
infrastructure. The integration of artificial intelligence and advanced
security protocols will enable Addis Ababa to build smarter, more secure
networks that can efficiently support both the city’s growing population and
its aspirations as a digital hub in Africa.
Officials from
the Addis Ababa City Administration expressed confidence that this agreement
will accelerate the city’s digital transformation, offering residents more
streamlined access to essential services while improving data transparency,
security, and accuracy. Moreover, with 2025 set as a major milestone for the
Digital Ethiopia initiative, the collaboration is anticipated to yield
substantial progress toward nationwide digital inclusion and economic growth.
