MTN
South Sudan has announced its title sponsorship of the inaugural South Sudan
Football Association (SSFA) Premier League. The launch ceremony, held in Juba,
marked a defining moment in the nation’s football history, as it introduced the
first-ever league under the auspices of the SSFA.
During
the event, MTN South Sudan CEO Ali Monzer presented a symbolic cheque of USD
300,000 to SSFA President Augustino Madout. This sponsorship will cover three
seasons, with an initial allocation of USD 100,000 dedicated to the 2024-25
season. The financial backing underscores MTN's commitment to fostering sports
development and uniting communities through the power of football.
In
his address, Ali Monzer noted the transformative impact of sports on
communities and individuals alike. "Today marks a historic milestone in
South Sudan, and I am honored to stand here as we celebrate the launch of the
first-ever league in our nation’s history. This is more than just a sporting
event; it is a celebration of unity, talent, and the boundless potential of
South Sudan," he remarked.
Monzer
further emphasized MTN South Sudan’s vision to contribute to the socio-economic
development of the country. "At MTN South Sudan, we believe in the
transformative power of sports. Sports have the unique ability to inspire,
connect communities, and instill values like teamwork, discipline, and
resilience. These are values we cherish deeply as an organization. As MTN South

President Augustino Madout expressed his gratitude to MTN for its
groundbreaking support, stating, "We deeply appreciate MTN’s support

unity."
The
newly launched 2024-25 season will feature 14 teams competing in a total of 182
games in Juba. The league promises to showcase South Sudan’s football talent
while promoting camaraderie and national pride.
The
