S.A. Minister of International Relations and Cooperation pays courtesy visit to MTN South Sudan

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ronald O. Lamola, visited MTN South Sudan's headquarters to strengthen ties between South Africa and South Sudan. The courtesy visit was hosted by Monzer Ali, CEO of MTN South Sudan, at the company's newly established headquarters, MTN House, located on Stadium Road in Juba.

The Minister was warmly welcomed by CEO Monzer Ali, who provided him with an update on MTN South Sudan's operations, vision, and strategic initiatives aimed at contributing to the development of the country. During the visit, Minister Lamola conveyed the South African government’s unwavering support for MTN South Sudan’s role in promoting economic growth and corporate social responsibility in the region.

“We see you as a champion of South Africa and commend your efforts, particularly in South Sudan’s Corporate Social Responsibility and connectivity, which are key drivers of economic development,” said Minister Lamola, underscoring the importance of MTN’s contributions to the nation’s progress.

In response, CEO Monzer Ali expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s visit and reiterated MTN South Sudan’s commitment to the well-being of the nation. “Our presence in South Sudan goes beyond profit; it is about contributing to the social and economic fabric of this great nation,” he stated.

MTN South Sudan, a subsidiary of the South African-based MTN Group, has been instrumental in enhancing mobile connectivity and promoting various social initiatives in South Sudan. The company’s focus on advancing technology access and corporate social responsibility has played a pivotal role in the nation’s economic growth.
