The
Director General of the Regional African Satellite Communication Organisation
(RASCOM), Timothy Ashong has paid a courtesy visit to the newly elected
Director General of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and
Madagascar (ASECNA), Prosper Zo’o Minto’o at his office. This meeting marks the
beginning of what is expected to be a strong collaboration between the two
organizations to enhance satellite communications and air navigation safety
across Africa.
Accompanying
Mr. Ashong was the Director of Planning, Partnerships, and Development at the
Senegalese Agency of Space Studies (ASES), Rosso K. Dieng, whose presence
underscored the shared commitment to advancing Africa’s space and satellite
connectivity.
Discussions
during the meeting focused on strengthening partnerships that will drive
innovation in satellite communications, ensuring more robust and reliable
connectivity to support aviation safety and other critical sectors across the
continent. Both leaders acknowledged the vital role of satellite technology in
enabling seamless air navigation, disaster management, and digital
transformation.
Mr.
Zo’o Minto’o expressed his commitment to fostering cooperation with RASCOM,
emphasizing that enhanced satellite capabilities are crucial for improving air
traffic management systems and ensuring the safety of African airspace. In
response, Mr. Ashong reaffirmed RASCOM’s dedication to working closely with
ASECNA and other regional organizations to expand the reach and efficiency of
satellite-based solutions.
