Accra
Technical University (ATU) has taken a significant step towards advancing
academic and technological innovation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with Jeonnam State University, Korea. The signing ceremony, which took
place at the Council Chamber of ATU, marks the beginning of a strategic
partnership aimed at fostering research collaboration, staff and student
exchanges, and joint academic initiatives.

The
agreement will facilitate academic lectures and symposia, exchange programs for
faculty and students, the joint development of educational courses in aviation
and drone technology, and collaborative research projects. With Jeonnam State
University being renowned for its excellence in aviation and drone technology
education and ATU being Ghana’s first technical university with a dedicated
drone center, the partnership is expected to drive impactful innovation and
industry-focused training.
Speaking
on the collaboration, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi,
expressed optimism about the opportunities this partnership presents. He noted
that the expertise from both institutions will not only enhance academic and
technical knowledge but also inject new innovations that will benefit students,
faculty, and the broader industry.

The
MoU signing was attended by key representatives, including Professor Jong Hun
Chun, Head of the Air Drone Innovation & Convergence University Project at
Jeonnam State University, and Mr. Cheol Soo Lee, CEO of A-Tech Group Korea
(A-TGK). Their presence underscored the commitment of both institutions to
fostering global collaborations that drive technological advancements.
This
partnership signifies a major milestone in ATU’s vision to expand its
international reach, enhance its research capabilities, and equip students with
cutting-edge skills in aviation and drone technology. As the collaboration
unfolds, it is expected to contribute significantly to knowledge exchange,
practical learning experiences, and technological solutions that address
real-world challenges.
