The
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey
George, has indicated the importance of data synchronization in Ghana’s digital
transformation agenda. He noted that ensuring consistency in data across
multiple platforms will drive economic growth and enhance governance.
Data
synchronization, the process of maintaining consistency across different
datasets and systems, is pivotal to modernizing Ghana’s digital infrastructure.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the UK High Commissioner and her delegation
to the Ministry in Accra, Hon. Sam George stressed that synchronized data is
essential for policymakers and stakeholders to make well-informed decisions
based on accurate and up-to-date information.

“Automated
data collection reduces manual errors and increases productivity,” the Minister noted, adding that
efficient data synchronization will enable government agencies and institutions
to provide better services to citizens. He further highlighted that Ghana must
invest in the necessary infrastructure, build capacity, and promote data-driven
innovation to reap the full benefits of data synchronization. Additionally,
fostering collaboration between government agencies, private sector
organizations, and civil society groups will be crucial in achieving these
goals.
The
minister expressed confidence that prioritizing data synchronization will help
unlock Ghana’s full potential and drive sustainable economic growth and
development.
The
British High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, commended the Minister’s
dedication to leveraging technology for economic advancement. She reaffirmed
the UK’s willingness to collaborate with Ghana in developing its data
synchronization capabilities, stating, “The UK is keen to collaborate with
Ghana in developing its data synchronization capabilities, and we look forward
to exploring opportunities for cooperation in this area.”

The
meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, including Chief
Director Mr. Alexander Yaw Arphul and Director of General Administration Alfred
Nortey. The British High Commission delegation included Johnson Singir, Science
and Innovation Network Manager; Nana Frimpomaa, Green Economic Transformation
Team Lead and Private Sector Development Advisor; and Jamie Proctor, West
Africa Research and Innovation Team Lead.
