The Vodacom
Central Region has joined forces with several municipalities in the Free State
and Northern Cape to launch a series of e-learning campaigns. These initiatives
aim to raise awareness about the Vodacom e-learning platform among parents,
learners, and teachers, with a particular focus on schools in townships and
rural areas. Over 100 schools across the two provinces are set to benefit from
this program, which will assist learners in registering on the platform and
accessing the transformative benefits of digital education.
The Vodacom
e-Learning platform, which is zero-rated, provides free access to a wealth of
educational resources, including interactive lessons, video tutorials, and
assignments that are fully aligned with the Department of Basic Education (DBE)
National Curriculum. By removing data costs as a barrier, Vodacom is ensuring
that learners from underserved communities can access high-quality educational
content, empowering them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

The e-learning
campaigns are designed to not only introduce the platform to schools but also
to provide hands-on support to learners, teachers, and parents. Vodacom
representatives will visit schools to assist with registrations, demonstrate
how to navigate the platform and highlight the various resources available.
This initiative is particularly crucial in rural and township areas, where
access to digital tools and connectivity is often limited.
The Managing
Executive of Vodacom Central Region, Tsatsi Mthimunye emphasized the company’s
commitment to education and national development. “Vodacom has long been
committed to supporting quality education and using its capabilities as a
technology company to enable this process. Through this initiative, Vodacom is
working hand in hand with the DBE in realizing its 2030 Vision for education and
other key priorities for national development,” said Mthimunye.

The Vodacom
e-learning platform is a key component of the company’s broader mission to
leverage technology for social good. By aligning its resources with the DBE’s
2030 Vision, Vodacom is contributing to the creation of an inclusive,
equitable, and quality education system. The 2030 Vision aims to ensure that
all learners, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to the
tools and opportunities needed to succeed in the 21st century.
