MTN Cameroon, Camtrack, and the Ministry of Transport have joined forces to promote the widespread adoption of the Ym@ne Driver software. A delegation from the Ministry of Transport, led by Dr. Divine N. Mbamome, Director of Road Transport, and a delegation from Camtrack and Be.Safe, led by CEO Hilaire Tinen, were welcomed at MTN Cameroon’s offices in Douala by out going CEO Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi. The meeting focused on the impact of the Ym@ne Driver solution and strategies to ensure its adoption by transportation companies across the country by April 2025.

The Ym@ne Driver software, a video surveillance system developed by MTN Cameroon in collaboration with Camtrack, has already demonstrated its effectiveness in improving road safety. Since its introduction in 2022, the technology has been installed in 500 interurban buses, resulting in zero fatal accidents among vehicles equipped with the system.

The Ym@ne Driver system monitors driver behavior in real-time, providing alerts for speeding, fatigue, and other risky driving practices. By leveraging advanced technology, the solution empowers transportation companies to enforce safety standards and ensure the well-being of passengers and drivers alike.

During the work session, representatives from MTN Cameroon, Camtrack, and the Ministry of Transport discussed the impact of the Ym@ne Driver solution and outlined a roadmap for its widespread adoption. The goal is to equip more transportation companies with this innovative technology by April 2025, further enhancing road safety across the country.

Director of Road Transport, Dr. Mbamome, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving this objective. “The Ym@ne Driver solution has proven to be a powerful tool for improving road safety, and we are committed to supporting its adoption nationwide,” he said. “By working together with MTN Cameroon and Camtrack, we can ensure that more transportation companies benefit from this life-saving technology.”

Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, CEO of MTN Cameroon, also reiterated the company’s commitment to leveraging digital solutions to address critical challenges in Cameroon. “At MTN Cameroon, we believe in the power of technology to transform lives and create a safer, more connected society,” she said. “The success of the Ym@ne Driver solution is a testament to what can be achieved when we collaborate with partners who share our vision for a better future.”

She then highlighted MTN Cameroon’s broader efforts to contribute to road safety and national development through innovative digital solutions. “Our partnership with Camtrack and the Ministry of Transport is a reflection of our commitment to using technology to make a positive impact on the lives of Cameroonians,” she added.

The CEO of Camtrack and Be.Safe, Hilaire Tinen praised the collaboration and emphasized the importance of technology in addressing road safety challenges. “The Ym@ne Driver solution is a prime example of how innovation can save lives and improve safety on our roads,” he said. “We are proud to partner with MTN Cameroon and the Ministry of Transport to bring this technology to more transportation companies and ensure its success.”
