The Ghana
Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has welcomed its new
Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer. The
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Sam Nartey
George (MP), received Dr. Computer at the Ministry's conference room in Accra.
Dr. Computer
pledged to enhance digital inclusion in the country, driving GIFEC's mandate to
provide funding for electronic communications infrastructure in underserved and
unserved communities. He emphasized his commitment to leveraging his expertise
to advance GIFEC's mission and strengthen its operations in the country's
electronic communications and IT sector ¹.
GIFEC, an
agency under the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations,
plays a crucial role in facilitating universal access to basic telephony and
electronic communications in Ghana. The organization focuses on underserved and
unserved communities, aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote
socio-economic development ¹.
Under Dr.
Computer's leadership, GIFEC is expected to continue its efforts in providing
financial support to companies developing digital communications infrastructure
in unserved and underserved areas. This initiative aligns with the government's
vision to expand digital connectivity and promote economic growth ².
Dr. Computer
also assured staff of an open-door policy, ensuring that the President's vision
is achieved through collaborative efforts.
