The Kenya Space
Agency (KSA) Director General, Brig Hillary Kipkosgey has paid a courtesy visit
to the Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet County, Wisley Rotich. This meeting marked
the beginning of a collaborative effort between KSA and the County Government
of Elgeyo Marakwet to harness space technology for informed decision-making in
key areas.
The partnership
aims to utilize space technology in various sectors, including spatial
planning, agriculture, disaster management, water resource management, and
environmental monitoring. By leveraging high-resolution satellite imagery and
earth observation technologies, the county aims to optimize resource
allocation, enhance crop yields, predict and respond to natural disasters, and
promote sustainable development.
The meeting was
attended by senior county officials, who expressed their commitment to
leveraging space technology for the county's development. KSA's partnership
with Elgeyo Marakwet County demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the
utilization of earth observation technologies across counties, government
ministries, departments, and agencies. By providing high-resolution satellite
imagery and technical expertise, KSA aims to support informed decision-making
and drive sustainable development in Kenya.
