The Vodacom Tanzania Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to connecting more than 100 schools in Zanzibar by 2026. This ambitious initiative announced during a high-level meeting between Philip Besiimire, CEO and Managing Director of Vodacom Tanzania, and His Excellency Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, underscores the power of collaboration in driving digital transformation and empowering communities.

The initiative is part of Vodacom Tanzania’s broader strategy to enhance connectivity, improve access to digital resources, and equip students, youth, and women with the skills needed to thrive in a digital economy. Through partnerships with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Zanzibar Information Communication Technology and Innovation Agency (ZICTIA), and e-Gaz, Vodacom is paving the way for a more connected and inclusive future.

Access to quality education is a cornerstone of sustainable development, and connectivity is a critical enabler. By connecting schools across Zanzibar, the Vodacom Tanzania Foundation is ensuring that students have access to digital tools, online learning platforms, and educational resources that can significantly enhance learning outcomes. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of creating a digitally empowered society and preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

“Access to quality education starts with connectivity,” said Philip Besiimire. “Through our commitment to connect more than 100 schools in Zanzibar by 2026, we are ensuring that students have access to digital resources and opportunities that enhance learning outcomes. We are proud to partner with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar to bridge the digital divide and empower the next generation.”

Beyond education, Vodacom Tanzania’s investments in Zanzibar are set to transform other critical sectors, including healthcare and financial services. The expansion of Vodacom’s network infrastructure, coupled with partnerships like those with ZICTIA and e-Gaz, will drive greater connectivity and enable innovative solutions that improve service delivery and enhance quality of life.

The Vodacom Tanzania Foundation is also focusing on equipping youth and women with essential digital and financial skills. Through targeted programs, the Foundation is empowering individuals to participate in the digital economy, access online opportunities, and improve their livelihoods. These efforts are a testament to Vodacom’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and digitally empowered society.
