On the
sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC2025) in Barcelona, Spain, the Director-General
of the Regional African Satellite Communications Organization (RASCOM), Timothy
Ashong has engaged in high-level discussions with key African leaders and
global satellite technology stakeholders to advance Africa’s satellite
communications and digital infrastructure. These meetings underscored RASCOM’s
unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide, enhancing connectivity,
and positioning Africa as a leader in the global space ecosystem.
Among the
notable engagements were discussions with Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Ghana’s
Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, and Hon. Rose
Pola Pricemou, Guinea’s Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital
Economy. These conversations highlighted the importance of strategic
partnerships and collaborative innovation in driving Africa’s digital
transformation.

As the head of
RASCOM, Timothy Ashong is at the forefront of efforts to revolutionize
satellite communications in Africa. At MWC2025, he has been actively engaging
with global leaders in space and satellite technology to forge partnerships
that will propel Africa’s satellite communications (satcom) capabilities to new
heights. A pivotal meeting with the CEO of Eutelsat, a leading global satellite
operator, underscored RASCOM’s determination to lead Africa’s satcom strategy
and ensure robust, high-quality connectivity across the continent.

with Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, and Guinea’s

socio-economic development. Both ministers emphasized the need for affordable,
reliable, and widespread connectivity to unlock Africa’s full potential.
