Egyptian Space Agency signs MoU with Tanmia Petroleum

The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) and Tanmia Petroleum have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the petroleum and mineral resources sector. The agreement, signed on March 5 at the headquarters of the Egyptian Space Agency in Cairo, aims to utilize space applications to improve monitoring mechanisms and early warning systems for petroleum and mineral resources facilities.

The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and Eng. Mostafa Amer, Chairman and Managing Director of Tanmia Petroleum. The collaboration between EgSA and Tanmia Petroleum focuses on integrating space-based technologies to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of petroleum and mineral resources operations.

Professor Dr. Sherif Sedky in a remark mentioned the potential of space technology in supporting Egypt’s strategic sectors. “This partnership with Tanmia Petroleum represents a significant milestone in our mission to harness space applications for national development. By integrating space technology into the petroleum and mineral resources sector, we can enhance monitoring capabilities, improve safety standards, and contribute to the sustainable management of Egypt’s natural resources.”

Eng. Mostafa Amer also highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and addressing sector-specific challenges. “Tanmia Petroleum is committed to adopting cutting-edge technologies to enhance our operations and ensure the sustainable development of Egypt’s petroleum and mineral resources. This partnership with the Egyptian Space Agency will enable us to leverage space applications to achieve these goals and strengthen our position as a leader in the energy sector.”

The MoU between EgSA and Tanmia Petroleum reflects the Egyptian government’s broader strategy to foster collaboration between national institutions and leverage advanced technologies to support economic growth and development. By combining the expertise of the space agency with the operational knowledge of Tanmia Petroleum, the partnership aims to create innovative solutions that address the unique challenges of the petroleum and mineral resources sector.
