The Egyptian
Space Agency (EgSA) and Tanmia Petroleum have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the petroleum and mineral
resources sector. The agreement, signed on March 5 at the headquarters of the
Egyptian Space Agency in Cairo, aims to utilize space applications to improve
monitoring mechanisms and early warning systems for petroleum and mineral
resources facilities.
The MoU was
signed by Professor Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and Eng.
Mostafa Amer, Chairman and Managing Director of Tanmia Petroleum. The
collaboration between EgSA and Tanmia Petroleum focuses on integrating
space-based technologies to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability
of petroleum and mineral resources operations.

Professor Dr.
Sherif Sedky in a remark mentioned the potential of space technology in
supporting Egypt’s strategic sectors. “This partnership with Tanmia
Petroleum represents a significant milestone in our mission to harness space
applications for national development. By integrating space technology into the
petroleum and mineral resources sector, we can enhance monitoring capabilities,
improve safety standards, and contribute to the sustainable management of
Egypt’s natural resources.”
Eng. Mostafa
Amer also highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and
addressing sector-specific challenges. “Tanmia Petroleum is committed to
adopting cutting-edge technologies to enhance our operations and ensure the
sustainable development of Egypt’s petroleum and mineral resources. This
partnership with the Egyptian Space Agency will enable us to leverage space
applications to achieve these goals and strengthen our position as a leader in
the energy sector.”

The MoU between
EgSA and Tanmia Petroleum reflects the Egyptian government’s broader strategy
to foster collaboration between national institutions and leverage advanced
technologies to support economic growth and development. By combining the
expertise of the space agency with the operational knowledge of Tanmia
Petroleum, the partnership aims to create innovative solutions that address the
unique challenges of the petroleum and mineral resources sector.
