The African
Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) has signed a strategic
partnership with the National Communications Authority of the Democratic
Republic of Congo (Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Télécommunications
du Congo, ARPTC). The agreement was formalized during the 69th AFRALTI
Governing Council meeting held in Vilankulo, Mozambique, and aims to enhance
capacity building, ICT policy development, and regulatory support across the
region.
The meeting
also marked a significant leadership transition, with the Republic of
Mozambique taking over the chairmanship of the AFRALTI Governing Council from
the Republic of Uganda. This change underscores AFRALTI’s commitment to
fostering collaboration and strengthening governance among its member
states.

The strategic
partnership between AFRALTI and ARPTC is set to play a pivotal role in driving
digital transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the
broader African region.
“This
partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to advancing digital
transformation in Africa,” said a
representative from AFRALTI. “By working together, we can create a more
connected and digitally empowered continent.”
The 69th
AFRALTI Governing Council meeting marked a new chapter for the organization,
with the Republic of Mozambique assuming the chairmanship from the Republic of
Uganda. The transition reflects AFRALTI’s dedication to fostering collaboration
and inclusivity among its member states.
“We are honored
to take on the chairmanship of the AFRALTI Governing Council,” said a representative from Mozambique. “We look forward to
working with our member states to drive innovation, strengthen governance, and
promote digital transformation across Africa.”
The meeting
brought together representatives from AFRALTI member states and associate
members, including ICT authorities and institutions from across the continent.

The official
opening of the meeting was graced by distinguished guests, including Lourino
Chemane, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of
Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC), as the Guest of Honour;
Hon. Quinino Vilankulo, Chairman of the Vilankulo Municipality; and Hon. Lúzio
Nhavene, Director of Transport and Communication for Inhambane Province.
In his opening
remarks, Lourino Chemane emphasized the importance of digital transformation in
driving economic growth and social development. “As we gather here today, we
are reminded of the critical role that ICT plays in shaping the future of our
continent,” he said. “By working together, we can build a more connected
and prosperous Africa.”
