Zambia Plc has announced a strategic partnership with the Zambia Tourism Agency
(ZTA) to leverage anonymized telecommunications data for tourism insights. This
innovative public-private collaboration aims to enhance domestic tourism through
data analytics while maintaining strict privacy standards.
Under the

planning, marketing strategies, and resource allocation.

the partnership:
“This
public-private partnership is a game-changer in leveraging technology for

experiences, promote Zambia’s rich heritage, and unlock new opportunities for
sector growth.”
The CEO of
Zambia Tourism Agency, Matongo Matamwandi also highlighted the critical role of
data in tourism development by saying “Reliable data is the backbone of
effective tourism strategy. This collaboration will allow us to track visitor
trends, measure the impact of our marketing campaigns, and make informed
decisions to position Zambia as a premier travel destination.”

Airtel Zambia
assures that all shared data will be fully anonymized and aggregated, ensuring
compliance with data protection regulations. This approach allows for
meaningful analysis without compromising individual privacy—a model that could
set a precedent for other African nations.
