The
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey
George (MP), has engaged with an Italian delegation to explore collaborative
opportunities in digital transformation. The meeting, held at the Ministry's
office in Accra, underscored the commitment of both nations to foster
partnerships that drive technological advancement.
A
central focus of the discussions was the One
Million Coders Program, an ambitious initiative aimed at
equipping one million Ghanaians with coding and digital skills. This program is
designed to bridge the digital skills gap, enhance employability, and position
Ghana as a competitive player in the global tech industry. The Italian
delegation expressed keen interest in supporting this initiative, recognizing
its potential to transform Ghana's digital economy.

Another
pivotal topic was the GH Forms Project,
which seeks to standardize government forms and services, thereby streamlining
processes and improving accessibility for citizens. The project aims to
digitize and centralize governmental procedures, reducing bureaucracy and
enhancing efficiency in public service delivery.
Cybersecurity
also featured prominently in the dialogue. Hon. George emphasized the critical
need for robust policies and frameworks to safeguard Ghana's digital
infrastructure. The Italian delegation shared insights and best practices from
Italy's experiences, laying the groundwork for potential collaboration in
strengthening Ghana's cybersecurity measures.
The
meeting further delved into the Youth
for Climate Project, an initiative launched by Italy in
collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This
project provides funding for young individuals to develop and implement
projects across various sectors, including digital technology, with a focus on
addressing climate change challenges.

The
minister reiterated Ghana's unwavering commitment to digital transformation and
expressed enthusiasm for the prospective partnership with Italy, and highlighted
that such collaborations are instrumental in achieving Ghana's vision of
