The South
African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has strengthened its executive team
with the appointment of marketing strategist Ongeziwe "Oz" Lupuwana
as Head of Integrated Marketing. The seasoned professional joins the public
broadcaster with an impressive track record of building brands across multiple
continents.
Lupuwana
arrives from Pernod Ricard's Havana Club International, where he served as
Global Marketing Manager overseeing campaigns in more than 15 countries. His
diverse career includes strategic marketing roles spanning the BeNeLux region,
Sub-Saharan Africa, and South African Breweries – consistently delivering
measurable brand growth throughout his tenure.
The newly
appointed executive brings both academic rigor and practical experience to the
SABC, holding an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand complemented by a
Postgraduate Diploma in Management. He is currently completing his MBA at the
prestigious Warwick Business School in the United Kingdom.
SABC's
leadership anticipates Lupuwana's people-centered approach and narrative-driven
marketing philosophy will usher in a fresh chapter for the broadcaster's
integrated marketing strategy. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as the
public broadcaster seeks to enhance audience engagement across multiple
platforms.
Minister of
Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi extended congratulations,
noting the importance of strong marketing leadership for South Africa's public
broadcaster. Industry observers expect Lupuwana's international perspective and
local market understanding to help reposition the SABC in an increasingly
competitive media landscape.
