Meta Platforms
Inc. has initiated high-level talks with the Ghanaian government to explore
strategic collaborations in technology and innovation. Kojo Boakye, Meta's Vice
President of Public Policy for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkiye, met with
Ghana's Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel
Nartey George, to discuss potential partnerships that could shape the nation's
digital future.
The discussions
focused on leveraging Meta's technological expertise to support Ghana's digital
transformation agenda, particularly in areas of digital inclusion,
cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. With Meta's popular platforms like
Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp deeply integrated into Ghana's digital
landscape, the meeting explored opportunities to enhance local innovation while
addressing critical challenges in the tech space.

Minister George
expressed the government's commitment to building a digitally inclusive economy
that actively engages Ghana's youth population. "Partnerships with
global technology leaders like Meta are essential as we work to bridge the
digital divide and create opportunities in our growing tech sector," the
Minister stated during the productive engagement.
The meeting
also examined potential models of collaboration, drawing from Meta's successful
initiatives in other markets. Areas of mutual interest included digital skills
development, support for local tech startups, and the responsible deployment of
AI technologies tailored to Ghana's developmental context.
Sade Dada,
Meta's Head of Public Policy for Anglophone West Africa, joined the
discussions, underscoring the company's long-term interest in Ghana's digital
growth. The dialogue sets the stage for concrete partnerships that could see
Meta's resources and expertise deployed to accelerate Ghana's position as West
Africa's digital hub.
