Stakeholders in the Ivory Coast mobile industry have attended a three-day workshop organized by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) in partnership with the United Engineering and Technical Consultants (UNETEC).

The workshop facilitated by the GSMA’s Senior Spectrum Policy Managers Luiz Felippe, Zoghbii de Castro, and Seyni Malan Fati took participants through areas where the government and the mobile industry can cooperate to make current and next-generation networks a success in Cote d’Ivoire.

A brief statement about the workshop on GSMA’s social media LinkedIn platform noted that “mobile services are a critical driver for economic growth in Africa. Whether it is for sectoral reforms, ease of doing business, technology-driven schemes or self-reliant services-affordable, high-quality and timely spectrum access is key to making happen”.

It further explained that while 5G will support significantly faster mobile broadband speeds, 4G still has a role to play and needs expansion, adding that mobile broadband enables the full potential not just of smartphone connections but also of the internet of Things-from virtual reality and autonomous cars, to industrial upgrades and smart cities, and 5G will be at the heart of the future of communications.
