Senegal inaugurates World Bank Group's Regional headquarters in Dakar

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal has inaugurated the World Bank Group's new regional headquarters for West and Central Africa in Dakar, marking a significant milestone in the institution's commitment to localized development solutions. The state-of-the-art facility consolidates all regional operations under one roof, enhancing operational efficiency and reinforcing proximity to regional challenges and opportunities. 

In his inaugural address, President Faye stressed the alignment between the World Bank's renewed strategic focus and Senegal's Vision 2050 framework, which prioritizes national sovereignty, social justice, and inclusive prosperity. "This headquarters symbolizes our shared ambition to place people at the center of development policies," he stated, highlighting collaborative priorities such as agricultural transformation, youth employment, energy access, and digital infrastructure. 

The event underscored Senegal's reforms to improve investment climates and job creation, with the President noting the country's role in advancing a revitalized multilateral system.

The World Bank's reinforced regional presence is expected to accelerate project implementation across 22 countries, leveraging Dakar's strategic position as a hub for pan-African development dialogue.
