Egypt’s newly appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hindi has departed Cairo this morning for New Delhi, India, to participate in the Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to run over three days.

The summit brings together heads of state, senior government officials, global technology leaders, international organisations, investors, innovators, and researchers. Organisers estimate participation of approximately 250,000 attendees, reflecting growing global interest in artificial intelligence and its governance.

Held for the first time in a Global South country, the summit aims to advance a shared international roadmap for AI governance, strengthen cooperation on the use of AI technologies for societal benefit, and promote inclusive growth and human-centered innovation. The event also seeks to elevate the perspectives of Global South nations to encourage a more balanced distribution of technological progress and opportunities.

The programme is structured around three core themes: humanity, planetary sustainability, and progress. Discussions are expected to focus on translating high-level policy dialogues into practical frameworks and measurable outcomes in global AI cooperation.

Egypt’s participation underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the country’s engagement in international forums shaping the future of advanced technologies. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is serving as co-chair of the Artificial Intelligence Resources Democracy Working Group at the summit, positioning Egypt as an active contributor to global AI governance discussions.
