The World Health
Organization’s Regional Office for Africa has officially opened the Regional
Technical Meeting on Innovative Health Financing, bringing together delegations
from 14 francophone countries. Representatives from Ministries of Health and
Finance, development banks, and partner organizations are participating in
discussions aimed at building more resilient and equitable health systems
across the continent.

The meeting focuses on
addressing the evolving challenges of health financing amid changing external
funding landscapes and growing fiscal pressures. Participants are exploring
strategies to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, improve efficiency, leverage
innovative financing instruments, and ensure that funding aligns with national
health priorities.
The initiative underscores
Africa’s commitment to accelerating progress toward universal health coverage
and developing sustainable health financing mechanisms that can support
long-term system resilience.
