The World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Africa has officially opened the Regional Technical Meeting on Innovative Health Financing, bringing together delegations from 14 francophone countries. Representatives from Ministries of Health and Finance, development banks, and partner organizations are participating in discussions aimed at building more resilient and equitable health systems across the continent.

The meeting focuses on addressing the evolving challenges of health financing amid changing external funding landscapes and growing fiscal pressures. Participants are exploring strategies to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, improve efficiency, leverage innovative financing instruments, and ensure that funding aligns with national health priorities.

The initiative underscores Africa’s commitment to accelerating progress toward universal health coverage and developing sustainable health financing mechanisms that can support long-term system resilience.
