The
Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) has hosted the outgoing and
incoming leadership of the Kenya Privacy Professionals Association for a
consultative meeting aimed at strengthening compliance and enhancing the role
of Data Protection Officers (DPOs) in corporate governance.

The
engagement focused on advancing adherence to Kenya’s Data Protection Act (DPA),
with association leaders reaffirming their commitment to supporting their
respective organizations in meeting regulatory obligations.
During
the discussions, the Data Commissioner, Immaculate Kassait underscored the need
for clear and consistent compliance frameworks, emphasizing the importance of
responsible data handling practices throughout service delivery processes.
Particular
attention was given to the management of data flows and the necessity of robust
cross-border data sharing agreements to ensure secure and seamless transfers of
personal data.

The
ODPC noted that continued collaboration with professional bodies remains
central to promoting accountability, sound data governance, and a stronger
culture of data protection across sectors.
