Uganda’s Permanent Secretary highlights digital transformation agenda at RISE Technology Systems Mission event

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde has participated in the RISE Technology Systems Mission Event organised by the Uganda Development Bank under the theme “Uganda at the Dawn of a New Era.”

The event focused on advancing integrated and interoperable digital infrastructure to modernize industries and promote sustainable production. RISE Technology Systems is positioning itself as a driver of coordinated digital systems aimed at strengthening industrial efficiency and national competitiveness.

In her remarks, Dr. Zawedde outlined government’s strategic direction to accelerate digital growth, noting that the National Digital Transformation Programme (2023–2028) has been launched to support the country’s ambition of achieving tenfold economic growth. The programme targets 90 percent nationwide broadband coverage and seeks to move 95 percent of government services online through the Government Digital Registry.

She stated that digitizing public services is expected to reduce operational costs, enhance efficiency, and improve accessibility for citizens across the country. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to leverage technology as a catalyst for economic development and inclusive service delivery.

The mission event brought together policymakers, financial institutions, and technology stakeholders to align on strategies for strengthening Uganda’s digital and industrial transformation agenda.
