The
Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has concluded Batch 3 of the UJ-CONNECT
Entrepreneurship Mentorship Programme, with eight technology founders
presenting solutions aimed at addressing challenges in education, health,
agriculture and insurance.

The
programme culminated in competitive pitch sessions, after which four
entrepreneurs were awarded Proof of Concept cash prizes to support the further
development and scaling of their innovations. Essymart Africa received $5,000,
followed by Microvest (U) Ltd with $4,000, Ticketyo Technologies Ltd with
$3,000, and Twahirah Islamic Center with $2,000.
In
addition to the cash awards, Microvest (U) Ltd and Essymart Africa secured
fully funded opportunities to represent Uganda at the SusHi Tech Festival in
Japan in April, where they will showcase their solutions to an international
audience.

The
UJ-CONNECT initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of ICT and
National Guidance and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Uganda.
The programme is designed to strengthen Uganda’s ICT innovation ecosystem by
providing mentorship, exposure and financial support to emerging technology
entrepreneurs.
