The
71st Governing Council Convening of the African Advanced Level
Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) is underway in Nairobi under the
chairmanship of Instituto Nacional das Comunicações de Moçambique (INCM).

The high-level meeting has brought
together AFRALTI Member States and strategic partners involved in shaping the
information and communications technology landscape across Africa.
Participating institutions include the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA),
Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Postal and Telecommunications
Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), Eswatini Communications Commission
(ESCCOM), National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana, Gambia
Telecommunications and Multimedia Institute (GTMI), The Gambia
Telecommunications Company Limited (GAMTEL), the African Telecommunications
Union (ATU), and the East African Communications Organisation (EACO).

The forum provides a platform for
regulatory leaders, policymakers and technical experts to deliberate on issues
affecting the continent’s digital ecosystem. Discussions are expected to focus
on spectrum management, broadband expansion, cybersecurity preparedness,
digital transformation strategies, adoption of emerging technologies and
regulatory harmonization among member states.
As a
regional centre of excellence in telecommunications training and research,
AFRALTI continues to play a key role in strengthening institutional capacity
and technical expertise across the region.
