The American Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique (AmCham Mozambique), in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Maputo, has convened a high-level business roundtable aimed at strengthening economic ties and improving Mozambique’s investment climate.

The invitational session was held during the official visit of Sarah Troutman, Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs (Economic and Commercial) at the United States Department of State. The dialogue brought together senior private-sector leaders and representatives of the United States Government, including Abigail L. Dressel, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Maputo.

The roundtable focused on identifying practical reforms and policy actions that could help attract greater U.S. trade and investment into Mozambique. Participants shared insights from the private sector to support ongoing economic engagement between the two countries and emphasized the importance of structured public–private dialogue in shaping effective economic policy.

During the discussions, Deputy Assistant Secretary Troutman encouraged participants to move beyond identifying challenges and instead propose concrete and realistic solutions to improve the investment environment. Her emphasis on practical recommendations helped steer the dialogue toward actionable reforms aimed at facilitating increased commercial activity between the United States and Mozambique.

AmCham Mozambique said the engagement highlighted the critical role of collaboration between government institutions and the business community in strengthening investor confidence and advancing bilateral economic cooperation. The chamber reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a platform for dialogue between policymakers and the private sector to support reforms that promote trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth.

The organization also expressed appreciation to the U.S. Embassy and participating companies for their contributions to the discussions and their continued commitment to deepening commercial relations between Mozambique and the United States.
