The National Space Council, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved major initiatives to advance Nigeria’s space programme and strengthen institutional capacity.

Among the key decisions, the Council sanctioned the development and operationalisation of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Space Centre for Transport and Propulsion in Epe, Lagos. The facility is expected to enhance national capabilities in space technology and drive economic growth through innovation.

The Council also approved the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service, a move aimed at improving professionalism, staff welfare, and institutional governance.

In addition, a Working Group was established to revise Nigeria’s 25-Year Space Programme Roadmap. The group, composed of relevant agencies and space experts, will ensure the roadmap aligns with current realities and future opportunities in the space sector.

NASRDA Director-General Dr. Matthew Adepoju commended President Tinubu and the Council for their leadership and called for urgent, accountable implementation of the approved initiatives.
