The Chief Executive Officer of the ICT Authority, Jessy
Kiveu Maruti, has engaged young people at the Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo, Siaya County ahead of the facility’s
official launch scheduled for March 8, 2026.
The event forms part of preparations for the launch
ceremony, which will be presided over by William
Samoei Ruto, President of Kenya.
The youth participating in the programme have
undergone a pre-summit digital skills training initiative organised by the Ministry of ICT and the Digital Economy through
the ICT Authority in partnership with industry stakeholders.

The training programme focused on
building practical digital competencies, with sessions covering areas such as
e-commerce, digital marketing, e-waste management, artificial intelligence,
social media management, web design, media production, transcription and
content creation.
Officials say the initiative aims to
equip young people with relevant digital skills to participate in Kenya’s
growing digital economy while creating new employment and entrepreneurship
opportunities.
The Siaya
Community Digital Hub is expected to serve as a platform for digital
innovation, skills development and collaboration for youth and entrepreneurs in
the region.
