Ethio Telecom signs MoU with Federal Supreme Court to digitize Ethiopia’s judicial system

Ethiopia’s leading mobile network operator Ethio Telecom has signed a strategic partnership with the Federal Supreme Court that will help to digitize the judicial systems of the federal courts and deliver efficient & time-bound citizen-centric justice services.

According to a statement issued today, it revealed based on the agreement, Ethio Telecom will deploy and hand over a reliable and world-class standard information communication technology (ICT) infrastructure to be equipped with a reliable power supply backup network and secured network modular data center, cloud service, secured energy system,  video surveillance, OTN system, network operation center, wide area, and local area networks as well as software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), thereby enhancing the federal courts to provide fast, efficient, modern and accessible judicial services to clients guided by the e-court system being developed by the federal Supreme court.


It furthermore stated that the agreement would play a significant role in maintaining and further strengthening the strategic partnership of the two institutions in areas of telecom services such as in capacity building, training, knowledge, skill, and technology transfer. 

Ethio Telecom believes that the “completion of this infrastructure would enable the federal courts’ judicial services to be accessible, reliable, create accessibility of information to its stakeholders, easy to develop, install & implement decision support systems in courts, cost-efficient solution and on time delivery of service and establish process transparency, thereby increasing public confidence in judicial services.”


“On the other hand, it will enable clients to have data security & access case information, transparency of process & review the case files, information access & submission in all location, enhance judicial productivity, easy verification service and high-quality judicial service,” the statement said. 

“In the time ahead, based upon its beyond connectivity aspiration in its LEAD growth strategy, our company is strongly committed to strengthening its relentless efforts towards digitization so as to realize digital Ethiopia and ensure that the benefits of citizens are exhibited,” it added.
