The
Africa Space Expo 2026 (ASPEX 2026) has been officially launched in Abidjan,
marking a significant step in advancing Africa’s presence in the global space
sector.
The
event, scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26, 2026, is expected to
convene government leaders, policymakers, researchers, and industry
stakeholders to promote collaboration, investment, and innovation in
space-related technologies.

Organisers
say ASPEX 2026 will serve as a strategic platform for aligning continental
efforts in the development of space capabilities, while strengthening
partnerships across public and private sectors. The initiative comes amid
growing momentum in Africa’s space ecosystem, including increased satellite
deployments and the establishment of national space agencies across several
countries.
The
expo will focus on the application of space technologies in addressing key
development challenges, including environmental monitoring, disaster
management, economic planning, and territorial development. Stakeholders are
expected to explore how space-based solutions can support sustainable growth
and improve decision-making across sectors.

ASPEX
2026 is also positioned as a catalyst for attracting investment into Africa’s
space industry, with an emphasis on fostering innovation and building capacity
across the continent. Organisers indicate that the event will contribute to
enhancing Africa’s competitiveness in the global space economy while promoting
greater coordination among national and regional initiatives.
