The Governor of the Bank of
Namibia, Uanguta Ebson, together with the Bank’s senior management team, has
received a courtesy visit from the Chief Executive Officer of the
Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), Ms. Emilia Nghikembua,
and her senior leadership delegation.
The meeting focused on
strengthening collaboration between the two regulatory institutions as
Namibia’s financial sector continues to undergo rapid digital transformation.
Discussions centred on
regulatory sandboxes, measures to combat fraud and emerging digital risks,
consumer education initiatives, and progress made under the Namibia Regulators
Forum established last year.
The two regulators also
explored ways to enhance cooperation in ensuring that digital financial
services remain secure, innovative, and responsive to the needs of citizens as
the country’s digital economy expands.
The Bank of Namibia noted
that stronger coordination among regulators is becoming increasingly important
as financial services become more technology-driven and interconnected.
The central bank further
reaffirmed its commitment to promoting dialogue and collaborative regulatory
approaches aimed at supporting a stable, resilient, and future-ready financial
system in Namibia.
