The West African Postal
Conference (WAPCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation and
institutional development within the postal sector following the appointment of
new leadership and renewed emphasis on integration among member states.
At a recent gathering of
postal sector leaders and stakeholders, Mr. Diallo Mohammed Lamine was elected
as Executive Secretary of WAPCO, a move aimed at strengthening coordination,
innovation and development across West African postal systems.

The meeting also underscored
the role of Mr. Isaac Gnambo-Yao, Chairman of the WAPCO Administrative Council
and Chief Executive Officer of La Poste Côte d’Ivoire, whose leadership
continues to support regional postal reforms and strategic partnerships.
Ambassador Siaka Cissoko
also attended the event, highlighting the diplomatic importance of WAPCO in
advancing regional cooperation and connectivity across West Africa.
Nigeria, which hosts the
headquarters of the WAPCO Administrative Council, remains a key driver of the
organisation’s agenda to modernise postal services, enhance logistics systems
and promote digital transformation within the sector.

WAPCO continues to position
itself as a central platform for reshaping postal services in the region, as
member states increasingly align postal operations with emerging priorities
such as e-commerce expansion, financial inclusion and digital communication
services.
The organisation’s renewed
leadership is expected to further strengthen efforts toward deeper economic
integration and more efficient cross-border postal and logistics systems across
West Africa.
