MTN
Group has announced the appointment of Amitha Chetty as Executive: Legal,
effective 1 May 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and
regulatory oversight across its operations.
Chetty
brings extensive experience in legal, regulatory, and commercial practice
within complex, multinational and highly regulated environments. She is an
admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and holds a Master of Laws
(LLM) degree in Corporate Law.
Prior
to her appointment, she held senior leadership positions in the banking and
financial services sectors, where she was involved in shaping international
strategy, leading multi-jurisdictional regulatory and tax due diligence
processes, and advising boards and executive teams on cross-border legal
matters.
In
her new role, she will oversee the strengthening of MTN’s legal capabilities
across its markets, including governance enhancement, support for strategic
transactions, and execution of the Group’s legal and regulatory strategy.
Commenting
on the appointment, MTN Group Chief Executive: Legal and Regulatory, Lele
Modise, said Chetty brings a combination of legal expertise, commercial
insight, and leadership experience that will reinforce the Group’s regulatory
capacity and governance standards.

excellence, compliance, and sustainable growth across its footprint.
