Zimbabwe’s
Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, has held
discussions with the United Nations Population Fund representative in Zimbabwe,
Miranda Tabifor, aimed at strengthening collaboration on digital
transformation, social inclusion, and national development.
The
meeting focused on leveraging emerging technologies to improve healthcare
delivery, promote youth-led innovation, and advance gender equality as part of
Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 agenda.
According
to the Minister, the discussions explored the use of digital systems to expand
access to sexual and reproductive health services while supporting the growth
of a youth-driven digital economy through innovation and technology
development.

The
engagement also addressed efforts to create safer online environments for women
and girls as part of broader initiatives to bridge the digital gender divide.
During
the meeting, Zimbabwe officially handed over its National Artificial
Intelligence Strategy to the United Nations Population Fund, outlining the
country’s roadmap for harnessing artificial intelligence to support inclusive,
sustainable, and data-driven socio-economic growth.
Both
parties reaffirmed the importance of partnerships in ensuring that digital
transformation delivers benefits across all communities and supports inclusive
national development.
