Zimbabwe’s Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, has held discussions with the United Nations Population Fund representative in Zimbabwe, Miranda Tabifor, aimed at strengthening collaboration on digital transformation, social inclusion, and national development.

The meeting focused on leveraging emerging technologies to improve healthcare delivery, promote youth-led innovation, and advance gender equality as part of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 agenda.

According to the Minister, the discussions explored the use of digital systems to expand access to sexual and reproductive health services while supporting the growth of a youth-driven digital economy through innovation and technology development.

The engagement also addressed efforts to create safer online environments for women and girls as part of broader initiatives to bridge the digital gender divide.

During the meeting, Zimbabwe officially handed over its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to the United Nations Population Fund, outlining the country’s roadmap for harnessing artificial intelligence to support inclusive, sustainable, and data-driven socio-economic growth.

Both parties reaffirmed the importance of partnerships in ensuring that digital transformation delivers benefits across all communities and supports inclusive national development.
