Mauritius Telecom has hosted students from several tertiary institutions for a dialogue session on artificial intelligence, the future of work, and digital transformation as part of activities marking World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

The “Bridging Minds” exchange session was held at Telecom Tower in Port Louis and brought together around 15 students from institutions including the University of Mauritius, Université des Mascareignes, University of Technology, Mauritius, Open University of Mauritius, and Polytechnics Mauritius.

The discussions focused on how education systems are adapting to rapid technological change and the growing influence of artificial intelligence on employment and digital skills development.

Chief Executive Officer Veemal Gungadin engaged with students in an interactive session where participants exchanged views on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the evolving digital economy.

Mauritius Telecom said the initiative aimed to strengthen engagement between industry leaders and young people while encouraging conversations around innovation, technology, and the skills needed for the future workforce.

The event was held under this year’s World Telecommunication and Information Society Day theme, “Digital lifelines: Strengthening resilience in a connected world.”
