Regulatory Authority is participating in the 26th edition of the Global
Symposium for Regulators 2026 being held from May 12 to 15 in Ankara, Turkey.
The participation follows an
invitation from Türkiye’s Information and Communication Technology Authority
and the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International
Telecommunication Union.

The symposium brings
together heads of telecommunications and ICT regulatory authorities from across
the world to discuss emerging technological, regulatory and digital
transformation issues affecting the global communications sector.
Leading the Senegalese
delegation is the Director General of ARTP, Dahirou Thiam, who has participated
in several discussions and panels focused on regulation within the digital
ecosystem.
During the first workshop on
ICT statistics, Thiam highlighted the growing importance of telecommunications
data in supporting universal connectivity and improving public policy
implementation.
He noted that in Senegal,
mobile telecommunications data has become a strategic tool for transforming
public action, particularly through the use of real-time information on
territorial dynamics, mobility patterns and access to services.

According to Thiam,
Senegal’s mobile penetration rate, which exceeds 120 percent, provides
opportunities for deeper analysis and planning across various sectors.
The event is being attended
by senior officials and industry leaders, including Doreen Bogdan-Martin,
Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava and Bocar Ba.
More than 160 regulatory
authorities from ITU member states are participating in this year’s symposium.
Senegal previously hosted
the 10th edition of the Global Symposium for Regulators in 2010 through ARTP,
reflecting the country’s longstanding involvement in international
telecommunications and digital policy discussions.
