UN Technology Bank for the
Least Developed Countries and the Government of Malawi have officially launched
Malawi’s Technology Needs Assessment during an event held in Lilongwe.
The launch marked the
conclusion of a collaborative process aimed at identifying the country’s
technology priorities and strengthening national capacity for technology-driven
development.
According to the UN
Technology Bank, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing
innovation, strengthening institutional capabilities and promoting
evidence-based planning through strategic partnerships.

The Technology Needs
Assessment is expected to support Malawi’s efforts to identify critical
technological gaps, improve policy planning and guide investments in areas
essential for socio-economic development.
Officials noted that the
initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the role of science,
technology and innovation in achieving sustainable development objectives
within least developed countries.
The assessment report and
its summary have been made publicly available to support policymakers,
development partners and stakeholders involved in technology and innovation
planning in Malawi.
