The Communications
Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has been awarded the Universal
Connectivity Excellence Award in recognition of its efforts to expand inclusive
communication access and promote digital connectivity across Namibia.
The award was presented
during the Huawei ICT Congress Gala Dinner held in Windhoek, an event that also
featured the launch of the Women in Tech and 2026 National Talent Cultivation
Project.
Communications Regulatory
Authority of Namibia said the recognition reflects its ongoing work to support
universal access to communication services, particularly in underserved
communities across the country.
The award was presented by
Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, during
the ceremony attended by government officials and industry stakeholders.
CRAN was represented at the
event by its Executive for ICT, Elton Witbooi, who received the award on behalf
of the organisation.
The Authority stated that
the recognition underscores its commitment to advancing digital inclusion and
supporting Namibia’s broader digital transformation agenda through regulatory
innovation, collaboration and improved connectivity frameworks.
