The Ministry of ICT and
Innovation and the Gates Foundation have co-hosted a high-level roundtable
focused on accelerating Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) across Africa on
the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum 2026.
The discussions brought
together government officials, regional institutions, private sector leaders
and development partners to explore strategies for building open, interoperable
and Africa-owned digital infrastructure systems capable of supporting inclusive
economic growth.

Participants examined how
Digital Public Infrastructure can support key sectors including healthcare,
agriculture, trade and digital services while strengthening regional economic
integration.
According to the Ministry,
the roundtable focused on governance models, cross-border interoperability and
the need for African countries to develop shared digital systems that support
long-term economic transformation and innovation.

Stakeholders also discussed
the importance of collaboration between governments, private sector actors and
development institutions in building secure and inclusive digital ecosystems
across the continent.
The engagement formed part
of broader conversations at the Africa CEO Forum aimed at strengthening
Africa’s digital economy and expanding technology-driven opportunities for
businesses and citizens.
