The Nigerian Communications
Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has emphasized the importance of sustained
investment in digital infrastructure and national technological capability as
Nigeria seeks to strengthen its digital economy and long-term competitiveness.
The organisation expressed
appreciation to Nigeria’s Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning,
Doris Uzoka-Anite, for her continued support and recognition of the strategic
role of NIGCOMSAT in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda.
According to the satellite
communications company, digital infrastructure is increasingly becoming central
to economic growth, innovation, connectivity, and national resilience,
requiring long-term leadership commitment and investment.
NIGCOMSAT noted that its
role in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem includes expanding connectivity access,
promoting digital inclusion, strengthening resilience in communications
infrastructure, and supporting innovation across multiple sectors of the
economy.
The organisation further
stated that investments in digital infrastructure extend beyond technology
development and have broader implications for education, economic
opportunities, national security, and inclusive growth.
Officials indicated that
stronger collaboration between government institutions and digital
infrastructure providers will be essential to building a more connected and
technologically advanced society capable of competing in the global digital
economy.
NIGCOMSAT also reaffirmed
its commitment to supporting the country’s digital future through continued
collaboration with relevant ministries and stakeholders as Nigeria pursues
broader digital inclusion and innovation goals.
The company said countries
that make bold investments in digital capability today are more likely to
position themselves for future economic growth and competitiveness in an
increasingly technology-driven global environment.
