Chief
Executive Officer of Airtel Africa Group, Segun Ogunsanya has reiterated the
commitment of Airtel Africa’s partnership with UNICEF to transform the lives of
school-going children by providing them with digital learning content.
Speaking
during his recent visit to Uganda, Mr. Ogunsanya noted that Airtel Africa will
continue to support the shared efforts of the government of Uganda, by
identifying and collaborating with strategic partners like UNICEF to transform
the way children learn in Uganda and across the 13 other countries where Airtel
Africa operates.
The
Airtel Africa Group CEO was joined by UNICEF Representative to Uganda, Dr.
Mohamed Elmunir (Munir) Safieldin, and the State Minister for Primary Education,
Dr. Moriku Kaducu who both lauded the Airtel Africa and UNICEF partnership and
committed to supporting the expansion of the initiative to schools across the country.
Within the next two years, 100 schools in Uganda are set to be connected
to the Internet with the objective of reaching 54,750 students and teachers in
primary and secondary schools across the country, with a particular focus on
rural schools in the West Nile and Karamoja regions.
