The
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey
George, has dismissed claims that the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP) is
not operational, following a monitoring visit to training centres in the
Greater Accra Region.
The
visit covered several active training locations including the Accra College of
Education, Gbegbeise Junior High School, and the Mamprobi Community Information
Centre, where coding and digital skills training sessions were ongoing.

The
monitoring exercise comes in response to recent allegations suggesting that
some designated centres under the programme do not exist or are not functional.
However, direct engagement with trainees and facilitators at the visited sites
confirmed active implementation of the initiative.
According
to the Minister, the programme is fully operational and delivering tangible
outcomes, urging the public to disregard what he described as misinformation
circulating about the initiative.

He
reiterated government’s commitment, under the Ministry of Communication,
Digital Technology and Innovations, to equipping young people with practical
digital skills as part of Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda. The
One Million Coders Programme is positioned as a flagship intervention aimed at
expanding digital literacy and preparing a future-ready workforce.
