Andela
has announced the winners of its inaugural Andela x OpenAI Codex Champions
Showcase, recognizing outstanding developers who participated in a regional
initiative aimed at advancing the use of artificial intelligence in software
development.
The
winners, Nixon Chebii, Norbert Osiemo, and Allan Alex, were selected following
a two-week learning seminar focused on integrating Codex into developer
workflows and applying AI tools to real-world problem-solving.

The
programme brought together developers from across the region, culminating in a
capstone project designed to demonstrate how AI-driven coding tools can be
leveraged to deliver practical and transformative solutions, particularly
within the African context.
Andela
said participants engaged in both virtual and in-person sessions held in
Nairobi, where discussions centred on the role of Africa in global
technological innovation and the potential of combining local talent with
advanced AI systems to accelerate digital transformation.

Organisers
highlighted that the initiative reflects growing efforts to build capacity
among African developers in emerging technologies, while fostering
collaboration between global technology leaders and regional talent ecosystems.
The
programme concluded with participants expressing renewed motivation to apply
artificial intelligence tools in building scalable solutions that address local
and continental challenges.
