A
delegation from Angola’s National Space Programme Management Office (GGPEN) has
conducted a technical visit to the National Data Center managed by the
Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), as part of
efforts to enhance institutional cooperation and improve access to
space-related data nationwide.
The
visit, led by the Director-General of GGPEN, Dr. Zolana Joao focused on
strengthening coordination between national institutions involved in digital
infrastructure and space data management.
During
the engagement, the delegation was briefed on services provided by INFOSI,
including secure data storage, cloud computing, connectivity solutions,
technological redundancy and support for public administration digital
transformation.
Discussions
also emphasized the importance of digital sovereignty and the protection of
strategic data generated by Angola’s national space programme. Stakeholders
underscored the need to ensure that sensitive space data remains stored and
managed within national infrastructure under state oversight.
Technical
presentations at the National Data Center highlighted its role as a critical
infrastructure asset, offering high availability, improved security, faster
deployment of services, cost efficiency and scalability to support government
digital systems.
The
visit further explored potential areas of collaboration between GGPEN and
INFOSI, particularly in enabling wider access to spatial data for use in key
sectors such as agriculture, education, environmental management, urban
planning, telecommunications and disaster response.
Officials
noted that the Government Data Center, inaugurated on April 28, is supported by
ANGOSAT-2 satellite infrastructure, which enhances connectivity, redundancy and
resilience in the delivery of digital public services across Angola.
